Benefits With Friends

Benefits With Friends is a 10-episode romantic comedy that explores the different ways we grow and mature throughout adulthood. Through her romantic experiences, Bia embarks on a journey of self-discovery that extends beyond relationships. Through discoveries, frustrations, and new beginnings, she begins to question her desires, her choices, and the different paths she wants to build for her life. Challenge: Animation plays an important role in the storytelling. The series features numerous text message interactions, as well as navigation through apps and social media platforms, which help build and move the story forward. The challenge in creating the pop-ups and all the On screen text was to establish a visual and motion language that would allow different interfaces and navigation experiences to naturally connect with one another. To achieve this, we developed a navigation system (menu) that follows the character across different apps, from messaging and photo apps to health, transportation, and social media platforms, creating a visual harmony between the actors’ performances, scene pacing, and graphic interventions. Clarity and legibility across both large screens and smaller devices, such as mobile phones, were also considered throughout the entire process. We chose to work with transparency and layered elements to bring a lighter feel to the interventions, while exploring different ways for content to expand, from a simple notification to a long conversation thread.
