70 Years Tonight

Project Overview 70 Years Tonight is a TV Globo special celebrating seven decades of Brazilian telenovelas. Told through a first-person narrative, the program brings together archival footage and iconic actors in a journey through some of the most memorable moments in Brazilian television history. Challenges The visual design and scenographic installation were developed by Radiográfico Studio, where I was working as Lead Motion Designer. My role was to lead a team of five motion designers and oversee the animation production for the project, from workflow planning to the delivery of content for each individual fabric surface. The main challenge was to make archival footage feel like part of the physical space rather than simply content playing on a screen. The translucent fabrics became an essential part of the visual language, allowing projected images to overlap, bleed through different layers, and interact with the performers. This required developing motion and composition with the physical characteristics of the installation in mind, adapting the animation to large-scale projection and constantly changing perspectives. The result was a visual environment that blurred the boundaries between stage, projection, and archive turning the studio into a three-dimensional memory space where the past could be experienced rather than simply watched.
